Estimated Costs: Estimated costs can be found on the Budget Worksheet at the top of the page. Fees are paid directly to Salisbury University. Costs include all SU tuition and fees, all internship placement fees with Global Experiences, housing,and substantial in-country support provided by Global Experiences including cultural excursions and networking events.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Global Experiences is offering two special scholarships exclusively to SU students who participate on the Italy: Florence/Milan Internship in Communications program.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Live and study in Florence for far less than the cost of a typical semester in Italy

The Florence, Italy Internship and Milan, Italy Internship in Communications is a very special opportunity for SU students in Communication Arts to incorporate an intensive international work experience into their academic curriculum. The program is offered in either the fall or spring semester. The semester experience combines intensive study of Italian language with meaningful internship experiences is fields such as Radio and Television Broadcasting, Film and Audio Production, Web Design, Journalism, and other Communication Arts disciplines in both Florence or Milan.

Florence is the capital of the Tuscany region of Italy. It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world and a hub for global commerce. Watch this video about the internship.

COURSES:

Students earn 12 credits for the 12 week program in Florence:

4 credits for MDFL 101: Introduction to Italian
The additional 8 credits will be a combination of credits in Communication Internship and /or Research. The distribution of credits will be determined for each student in collaboration with the Program Director.
MDFL 101 may be used as a general education credit for group 1B. Communication Internship and Research both count as part of the Core requirement for the major in Communication Arts in all tracks. Enrollment in the Florence Internship in Communications program and all of its courses is based on the following prerequisites:

- C or better in CMAT 101, 102 and 297
- Junior standing
- Track core courses complete or in process
- 2.5 overall G.P.A., 3.0 G.P.A in CMAT
- Permission of the department
By special permission of the CMAT department at SU students may be eligible to take 8 credits of internship in place of the 4 credits in Independent Research.

HOST INSTITUTION: Global Experiences is a private company located in Annapolis, MD specializing in placing American students in English Language Teaching programs and international internships around the world. Director and Program Development Coordinator, Stephen Reilly, is a 1995 graduate of Salisbury University with a degree in Communication Arts. He created Global Experiences over a decade ago to help students to gain the global competencies that have made such a difference in his life. Salisbury University is proud to collaborate with Global Experiences to offer this special internship opportunity in Florence. Our partnership represents the best of SU alumni reaching back to help future generations of SU students achieve ever greater learning opportunities during their time in Salisbury.

HOUSING: Students are housed in shared apartments (flats). Included in the program fee is a shared bedroom with another program participant. These flats are located in city areas with easy access to public transportation routes and often are within walking distance to cafes, clubs, restaurants, shopping, etc.


APPLY:Students must meet all prerequisite requirements as described above in order to participate in the program. After completing the SU study abroad application student applicants continue the application process at the directly with Global Experiences. Students should not apply directly to Global Experiences until after completing the SU study abroad application.

The application deadline is October 1 for the Spring semester and March 15 for the fall semester.
