- Take classes in fields including Theater, English, Music, Communications, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Exercise Science
- Study and live in the United Kingdom for less than typical semester costs (exchange available for Communications and Sociology students)

CLASSES: Each semester SU students choose three different academic modules at the Brunel University. It is recommended that students have up to six modules approved by SU prior to departure. That will allow the student the maximum flexibility upon arrival in London. Each module is generally equivalent to 5-6 SU credits for a total of 15-18 credits per semester.

Each semester SU students choose three different academic modules at the Brunel University. It is recommended that students have up to six modules approved by SU prior to departure. That will allow the student the maximum flexibility upon arrival in London. Each module is generally equivalent to 5-6 SU credits for a total of 15-18 credits per semester.

Modules for Exchange Students are currently only available in Communications, Journalism, and Sociology. SU fee-based study abroad students may select modules in a wide variety of disciplines (module selections at the Brunel University website). Students can study abroad during fall or spring semesters or spend the entire year in London.

SU students can earn 4 of 5 courses for the interdisciplinary minor in European Studies during one semester at the Brunel University. For more information on the European Studies minor, see the Area Studies Minors website.

HOUSING: Housing options at Brunel University are similar to those in Salisbury. SU students at Brunel University can apply for on-campus housing or can work with the Off-Campus housing office to explore opportunities to live in neighborhoods surrounding Brunel in West London. Because of Brunel's strategic location in West London there are an abundance of housing options. For more information, check out the Accommodations website for on-campus housing and the Living Off Campus website.

PROGRAM TRAVEL: The Salisbury Abroad: London, England semester study abroad program does not offer any customized travel excursions as part of the program. However, London is an excellent location to launch independent travel throughout the United Kingdom and all of Europe. Low cost airlines offer connections from London to the rest of Europe. Train travel also connects London to the rest of the UK. In addition, Brunel International's student services team runs regular trips to famous UK destinations at affordable costs.

HOST INSTITUTION: Brunel is a world-class university based in Uxbridge, West London. Now over 40 years old, their mission has always been to combine academic rigor with the practical, entrepreneurial and imaginative approach pioneered by their namesake Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The majority of your needs are catered for on-site, including the Library and Computer Centre, academic and teaching buildings, welfare services, catering and social facilities and even the halls of residence, if you are living in University accommodation. There is a bank, a pharmacy, and a general shop where you can buy groceries, newspapers, stationery and even top up your phone card. The Computer Centre sells a range of IT-related products and the Students’ Union hosts a weekly fruit and veg market and Fairtrade stalls.

The University is just a 20-minute walk – or a short bus ride – from Uxbridge underground station, so it is a straightforward journey into the centre of London. The town of Uxbridge itself, which still has buildings dating back to its time as a Georgian market town, is a thriving commercial and business center. Its major shopping complexes, The Pavilions and the Chimes Centre, boast a wide range of shops, cafes and a nine-screen multiplex cinema.

COSTS: Regular semester cost is around $7,500 per semester for MD students (out-of-state students pay full out of state tuition) paid to Salisbury University. CMAT and Sociology majors may apply for a competitive exchange space for the Salisbury Abroad: London, England program and pay regular full-time tuition and fees to Salisbury University.

To be elligible for the competetive exchange slot a student must:

Be nominated by the Communications or Sociology department
Be a junior in standing when studying at Brunel University
Have a minimum GPA of 2.8
Exchange students will only be able to take Communications or Sociology modules.

Costs for room and board are separate and may be higher than in Salisbury, MD. All financial aid is eligible to transfer to a semester at Brunel University.

APPLICATION:

The application deadline is October 1 for the Spring semester and March 15 for the fall semester.
