*** Application Deadline October 30*** The Department of Health and Sports Sciences at SU has created a world-class opportunity for students to complete their mandatory senior internship in beautiful Sydney, Australia. Sydney as we know it today is a relatively young city. It is widely considered one of the most pleasant and livable cities in the entire world. With over 300 days of sunshine each year, iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbor, and Luna Park, it’s easy to understand why so many fall in love with this harbour city by the sea. Students may be placed in a variety of professional settings including one the largest and most successful sports camps operators in the world responsible for running all Nike Sports Camps as well as other sponsored programs in this market. Another potential opportunity includes an independent, nonprofit charity with the principle mission of furthering the knowledge and practice of optimum nutrition through the education of public health officials, and preserving and protecting the health of the general public by giving advice, assistance and treatment. A final placement example is a wellness center that helps clients achieve health and lifelong wellness using a range of our holistic approaches including Chiropractic, Wellness Psychology, Life Coaching and Integrative Medicine. COURSES: Students earn 12 credits for the 12 week program in Sydney: EXSC 479: Internship in Exercise Science (10 credits) EXSC 480: Exercise Science Seminar (2 credits) Students must satisfy the following academic prerequisites prior to enrolling in the Salisbury Abroad: Australia - Exercise Science Internship: - EXSC 333, 344 and 90 credit hours or departmental approval - EXSC 480 is a mandatory co-requisite HOST INSTITUTION: Global Experiences is a private company located in Annapolis, MD specializing in placing American students in English Language Teaching programs and international internships around the world. HOUSING: Accommodation is Sydney is a shared room in an apartment building located in the Haymarket neighborhood at the southern end of the Sydney central business district (CBD) including Chinatown and nearby Central train station. Haymarket is adjacent to Darling Harbour precinct which features diverse tourism attractions including the aquarium, restaurants and other areas of interest. The building is about a 20-minute walk from the center of the CBD. There are two shopping centers within 10-20 minutes' walking distance from the Oaks with supermarkets, shops, gardens, restaurants, and pretty much everything you need. The property has a pool, gym, and grilling facilities on the sixth floor as well as Wi-Fi Internet throughout the building. Building security is strict for safety purposes, including locked access to the stairs and floors of occupancy.
